Miley Cyrus is “deeply saddened” following the death of one of her tour crew in a bus crash.
Driver Bill Douglas was killed when the tour bus he was in overturned outside Richmond, Virginia, yesterday. Bill passed away at the scene of the accident, with the nine other passengers suffering minor injuries and being able to climb free of the wreckage.
The bus was one of four on their way to Greensboro, North Carolina, where Miley is due to play a show on Sunday. The 16-year-old singer was not on board any of the vehicles.
Miley and her family said in a statement on her website: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill 'Uncle Bill' Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed.”
Miley was on her way to Nashville to spend time with her family when the accident happened. It is now known what caused the bus to overturn, with the incident still being investigated.
