Michael Buble refuses to wear jeans on stage because it is “disrespectful” to his fans.
The Canadian crooner believes musicians have a duty to look their best when performing, and is horrified by the new crop of artists who wear T-shirts and baggy trousers during shows.
“I wear a suit on stage,” he is quoted as saying. “I think it is disrespectful not to – especially when people have paid good money to see you.”
Michael takes his fashion inspiration from the big band singers of the past, citing Frank Sinatra as a particular source of motivation.
He explained: “Also I sing songs about love. Frank Sinatra sang about love and he wore a suit. It's just a matter of respect.”
Michael added he thinks many people get the wrong idea about the old-school rat pack artists, insisting they were a lot tougher than they are given credit for.
He said: “Don't get me wrong, big band music is my passion. But if you'd accused Frank Sinatra of being some soft touch he'd have had you shot. That's what attracted me to the Rat Pack guys, they had attitude. When I first got a record deal they wanted to market me a certain way. I hated it, I was living a lie.”
He wore skinny jeans when he performed and presented as sit=in for comedian Paul O'Grady at a television recording . I wsas there - what is he talking about. Please dont screw up Michael
